2011 Market Enterprise

Young Men's Program - 2011 Market Enterprise

Plenty of folk came down to The Esplanade Market on the St Kilda foreshore on Sunday 16th of October to meet some of the lads from the Young Men's Program, and purchase a very special piece of Typo design from their market stall.

The boys had spent a week in the Typo workshops, crafting beautiful, one-off pieces of woodwork and metalwork. Sunday morning, they will brought them all down to St Kilda to offer them for sale to the public at their market stall. In addition to selling their wares, the boys conducted demonstrations with pioneer-style woodworking tools and hand-operated forge, so purchasers could also see how their goods were made.

Responsible for everything from determining which goods they'll make to setting the pricing, the lads manage the entrepreneurial process from start to finish - including dividing up the money made at the end of the day, over $500 in profit with a record price for a bush stool at $150!

Don't worry if you missed out, Market Enterprise is a follow up that is run several times a year - subscribe to our email updates here to make sure you're there next time!
