Delivering new ways of learning and living in Benalla!
This is a new Evolve program that has commenced in Benalla in partnership with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (Hume Region). It has been designed to address educational disengagement and community disconnectedness experienced by students in Year 5-7 in a cluster of schools in Benalla.
The schools that are involved are:

| The program will deliver an end-to-end process to provide early intervention and support for both at-risk and disadvantaged young people and their families through identified risk periods in their education (transition to secondary school and Year 9) to a point where they can make appropriate transitions to more adult learning and/or employment. The program fundamentals have been designed based on the intellectual property of Evolve’s existing programs. It will apply innovative, experiential and applied learning, personal development, teacher professional development, whole school development, family support and community connectedness. It will also invite significant community involvement, promoting greater family engagement in the education of their children and greater connection between families, schools and the community. In addition, young people will form links between community organisations and local police to encourage a sense of community across a broad range of stakeholders. We welcome Benalla to Evolve and look forward to working with this community in 2010. Keep checking for more information about this program and its outcomes as they develop. |
