Go GIRL - Get Into Real Learning!
The demand for young women’s early intervention programs has increased dramatically in recent years. Parents, educators and youth agencies have shared stories about 12-18 year old women who are at risk of negative mental health, anorexia nervosa (the third most common illness for adolescent girls in Australia), violence and crime, educational disengagements, alcohol and substance abuse and community disconnection. The Pavilion, an alternative education setting in Melbourne, had also identified a need to support young women who have already left mainstream school to keep them engaged in learning.
In response to this community need Evolve has developed its inaugural female-only program Go GIRL with The Pavilion to reconnect disengaged young women with their community, and is now ready to deliver this education-based program to teenage girls across two states.
