Narrative & Bush Adventure Therapy

BushTheraphy.jpgEvolve applies the philosophies of Narrative and Bush Adventure Therapy to all of its programs. We believe that early intervention, voluntary participation and long-term commitment are critical for sustainable positive changes. We believe in a 'hand up, not hand out' approach and supporting young people in discovering their strengths and expectations for future success.

Narrative Therapy is a respectful, non-blaming approach to counselling and community work, centring people as the experts in their own lives. It views problems as separate from people and assumes people have many skills, competencies, beliefs, values, commitments and abilities that will assist them to reduce the influence of problems in their lives. (Morgan, A 'What is Narrative Therapy' 2000). Evolve incorporates these principles to assist young people in understanding and legitimising their stories and creating a supportive environment for the healing process to begin. The programs also create new and positive experiences and events young people can draw upon for positive future change.
