Young Women's Program


Due to an identified need, Evolve is planning to offer a Young Women's Program in 2011, similar in structure to our sucessful Young Men's Program. We understand though, that the needs of teenage girls will be different in many ways from the young men that we currently work with and so will be delivering a pilot Young Women's Program in August 2010 that has been tailored specifically to be benefiticial to teenage girls. The Young Women’s program will be running 4 programs in 2011, dates to be advised, so keep watching this space!

What are the criteria for the Young Women's Program?

For our pilot program, we ask that applicants fit the following criteria. There is some flexibility within these guidelines; if you are unsure that the young woman is suitable, please call Kate to discuss her particular situation.

  • Aged 14-17 years of age
  • A willingness to participate - Evolve's programs are all voluntary
  • Recently or precariously connected to an education or employment pathway
  • Criminal offences of a minor and/or non-violent nature only (the Young Women's is an early intervention program)
  • Residing in or access to stable, long-term accommodation
  • No serious ongoing substance abuse issues
  • Is not pregnant
  • Young women with an intellectual disability or mental health concern will be assessed for suitabiilty on a case-by-case basis
  • If she is a young mohter, her child must not be dependent on her - it is not possible to bring a child to the residential and hike components of the Program
